"Live Moves Fast" - Adolescent Innocence in Ferris Bueller's Day Off

This movie instantly made me feel nostalgic, from the first time I watched it, despite never seeing it before, and not being alive in the 80's when it came out. It perfectly captures that liminal space between childhood and adulthood.

Ferris in his defiance of responsibility seeks freedom, fun and adventure. The film frames youth as romantic and spontaneous, and fleeting. Something to be cherished. The contrast between Ferris' childlike wonder and Cameron’s anxieties of impending adulthood resonate so strongly with audiences.

I think it's the fact the seemingly carefree Ferris, does care so much about his friends and appreciating the moment before it's gone, that the message is so impactful, and this movie is so comforting to me, it's one of my favorites.
